Leaky Pipes? Low Water Pressure? Discolored Water?
Epoxy Pipe Lining
Monroe County Community College, Monroe, MI

Pipes at Monroe County Community College in Michigan, repaired with epoxy liningThe Crisis: A triple threat.
Monroe County Community College was suffering from a host of pipe problems: the pipes were leaking, low water pressure was stifling, and the water out of the tap was discolored and filled with particles. The situation was particularly bad in the hot water lines of the Life Sciences Building, where the leaks had become very damaging. The college knew it had to address these ongoing problems with something more than clamps and patches, but was faced with the challenge of finding a solution that wouldn’t disrupt students and classes.

The Solution: CuraFlo Epoxy Lining.

Pipes at Monroe County Community College buildling repaired with epoxy liningJim Blumberg, Director of Physical Plant at the College, had seen epoxy pipe lining used in the gas industry, and was hopeful that CuraFlo’s solution for water pipes would be equally effective. After meeting with CuraFlo, MCCC felt confident that CuraFlo could rehabilitate the ailing plumbing system, fix their annoying and costly problems, and avoid the disruption associated with other traditional pipe repair methods.

The CuraFlo project was started and completed while students were on a 4-week break. Using specialized equipment and processes, CuraFlo cleaned the corroded pipes and then applied a safe, durable epoxy coating on the inside surface of the pipes. Pipes were accessed through existing plumbing fixtures and access points, minimizing the need to tear out and replace existing pipes.

The Outcome.

Students returned to campus to find restored water pressure, clean, clear drinking water, and no more leaks. Just how well did CuraFlo work? Ask Jim Blumberg: “We’re now looking at lining all of the hot and cold water pipes in all of our buildings.”

This epoxy pipe lining project was completed by the CuraFlo franchise serving the Midwest, including the greater Cleveland, Akron, Toledo and Detroit markets.
