BEACHWOOD, OHIOCuraFlo® of British Columbia Ltd. (“CuraFlo of British Columbia”), a leading provider of pipe restoration services for multi-tenant buildings and other commercial and institutional structures, is pleased to announce that it has been nominated for the prestigious Supplier/Contractor of the Year award sponsored by the Building Owners & Managers Association of British Columbia (BOMA BC).

CuraFlo of British Columbia was nominated for the award by representatives of Cadillac Fairview Corp., which owns the Pacific Centre office towers in downtown Vancouver. In 2010, CuraFlo of British Columbia successfully restored the water infrastructure system of two of the Pacific Centre office towers, located at 700 West Georgia Street and 701 West Georgia Street, with its proprietary epoxy lining system, the CuraFlo Engineered Flow Lining System®.

Introduced in 2005, the Supplier/Contractor of the Year award is given to a BOMA supplier or contractor company that repeatedly excels in providing exemplary service. The judging criteria is based on professionalism, creativity and the ability to provide alternative solutions, innovation and cost effectiveness. In order to be eligible, a building representative must nominate the supplier/contractor company; the supplier/contractor must be a member of BOMA BC; and some level of service must have been performed during 2010. The winning entry will be announced during BOMA BC’s Awards of Excellence Gala on May 25.

The Pacific Centre complex was constructed in the 1970s, and its structures have plumbing systems comprised of copper piping. Over time, multiple pinhole leaks formed in the hot and cold water supply lines of the systems within the Centre’s 700 and 701 West Georgia Street office towers. Cadillac Fairview Corp. representatives initially considered a complete repiping of these water infrastructure systems to address this problem. Yet the process of replacing existing pipes was a costly and invasive option that could have severely disrupted tenant businesses for months.

As a less-invasive, environmentally friendly, sustainable and cost-effective alternative to pipe replacement, CuraFlo’s epoxy lining can be installed with little or no downtime, and with minimal disruption to residents. CuraFlo’s proprietary epoxy lining system is also designed to ensure optimal water flow, pressure and quality, as well as prevent future leaks and corrosion.

Beginning in April 2010, the CuraFlo of British Columbia team restored the two Pacific Centre office towers’ hot, cold and recirculation pipes. Work was completed in June.

“We are honored to be nominated for this prestigious award by the Cadillac of Fairview Corp.,” said Sanjiv Gupta, PMP, and General Manager of CuraFlo of British Columbia. “In considering remedies to their plumbing challenges, management recognized that CuraFlo of British Columbia’s epoxy lining system is much less invasive than repiping, significantly reducing project completion time and disruption to tenants. They were also very interested in the additional benefits of epoxy lining being greener and less costly in labor and materials, since minimal amounts of copper pipe and drywall are removed and replaced. This nomination affirms their belief in CuraFlo, and it underscores their satisfaction in our work.”

In addition to a full array of infrastructure rehabilitation services, CuraFlo’s epoxy pipe lining solutions are widely renowned for alleviating problems with deteriorating pipes and plumbing systems. In many instances, this proves a highly effective alternative to pipe replacement. In fact, pipes restored with CuraFlo’s epoxy lining system can gain an additional service life of 40 to 60 years.
